Dr. V Narayanan, an Alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, is appointed as the new Chairperson of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He is currently serving as the Director of Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), Thiruvananthapuram. The government has also appointed him as the Secretary of the Department of Space. According to an order from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Dr. Narayanan will succeed Dr. S Somanath, the current ISRO Chief, on January 14, 2024. Prof. Amit Patra takes over the Additional Charge of the Director, IIT Kharagpur

Prof. Amit Patra, currently the Director of IIT BHU takes over the Additional Charge of the Director, IIT Kharagpur until the regular incumbent takes over or till further orders, whichever is earlier. The institute appreciates the excellent services rendered by Prof. V K Tewari, Outgoing Director, IIT Kharagpur who was the Professor of IIT Kharagpur in the Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering.
